Everything you can do in CampusZen, explained simply — for students, not engineers.

CampusZen — A Friendly Guide for Students

CampusZen is a social app made for college students. Think of it as a campus town square: you can post updates, join communities for your college and interests, chat with friends, share study materials, discover events, and earn fun rewards — all in one place. This guide walks you through every feature you can use as a student, step by step.

Getting Started: Sign Up & Log In

When you first open CampusZen, you'll see a welcome screen with two easy ways to join.

  • Sign up with Google — Tap the Google button to create an account (or log in) using your existing Google account. It's the fastest option; just approve the sign-in and you're in.
  • Sign up with email — Fill in your full name, a username (this becomes your @handle, 3–20 characters using letters, numbers, and underscores), your email address, a password, and a few quick details. Your password needs at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a symbol.
  • Verify your email — After signing up with email, a 6-digit code is sent to your inbox. Type it in and tap "Verify & Create Account." The code expires after 10 minutes, and you can ask for a new one if needed.
  • Already have an account? Use the Log In screen: enter your email and password, or tap the Google button. If you ever forget your password, tap Forgot Password and follow the three simple steps — enter your email, type the code sent to you, then set a new password.

Tip: If you sign up using your college or university email address, CampusZen may mark you as a verified student automatically — no extra steps needed.

Verifying Your Student Status

A verified badge (✓) next to your name tells everyone you're a real student. It builds trust and helps you stand out.

  • Open the Student Verification page from inside the app.
  • Upload a clear photo of the front of your college ID card (your name and college must be visible). Accepted files are JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF, up to 5 MB. You can drag-and-drop the file or browse your device, and preview it before sending.
  • Tap Submit for Verification. A real person on the CampusZen team reviews it, usually within 24 hours.
  • The page keeps you updated:
    • Not verified yet — shows the upload form (and, if a past try was rejected, the reason so you can fix it).
    • Under review — a friendly "you'll be notified within 24 hours" screen.
    • Verified — shows your ✓ badge and a button to view your profile.
  • Your ID is kept private and is only used to confirm you're a student — it's never shown publicly.

Your Home Feed

The feed is the first thing you see after logging in — a never-ending scroll of posts from the CampusZen community.

  • Personal greeting at the top welcomes you by name.
  • Filter tabs change what you see:
    • Discover — a mix of posts from across campus (the default view).
    • Interests — posts matched to the interests you picked (shows up if you selected "AI").
    • Latest — only posts made in the last 8 hours.
  • Communities dropdown — narrow the feed to a single community or college; choose "Communities" again to see everything.
  • Endless scrolling — more posts load automatically as you scroll down.
  • Discovery sidebar (on larger screens) shows Trending Communities, Trending Today (popular posts), and Trending Hashtags to help you find what's hot.

Creating a Post

Sharing something takes just a tap. Use the quick box at the top of your feed, or the + button for the full-screen composer.

  • Text — Write up to 2,000 characters. A small ring near the Post button warns you as you get close to the limit.
  • Photos — Attach up to 6 images; preview and remove them before posting.
  • GIFs — Search a library of animated GIFs (Trending, Reactions, Sports, Stickers, and more) and add one.
  • Emoji — Open a full emoji picker, with Recent and Favorites tabs for your go-to emojis.
  • Polls — Available for Pro members: add a question with 2 to 4 answer options (polls close after 24 hours).
  • Documents / Markdown — Upload a .md or .txt file, or write with simple formatting (headings, bold, lists). Toggle between Edit and Preview.
  • Link preview — Paste a website link and CampusZen shows a small preview card automatically.
  • Tags — Label your post with up to 5 topics (Programming, AI, Hackathons, Placements, Memes, Cricket, Music, College Life, etc.) so the right people find it.
  • Posting to a community — If you picked a community filter, your post is tagged with that group.
  • Safety check — Before publishing, CampusZen scans your post for spam or inappropriate content. If something is flagged, you'll see why and the post won't go live.
  • Tap Post and your update appears immediately (and you may earn a small reward).

Posts: Likes, Comments, Sharing & More

Every post shows the author's name (with a ✓ if verified), their @username, when it was posted, any community badge, the text (with tappable #hashtags and @mentions), photos/GIFs/polls, and action buttons.

  • Like — Tap the heart to like a post; tap again to undo. The count updates instantly with a little animation.
  • Comment — Tap the comment bubble to write a reply (up to 280 characters). Your own comments have a small delete button. Comments support #hashtags and @mentions too.
  • Share — Tap Share to copy a link, or share to X (Twitter) or WhatsApp (on your phone, your device's share menu opens). A counter tracks total shares.
  • Save — Tap the bookmark (see Bookmarks below).
  • Open a post — Tap any post to see its full page with all media and the complete comment conversation.
  • The "⋯" menu on every post has options depending on who you are:
    • Everyone: Copy Text.
    • Your own post: Edit Post, Pin to Profile (sticks it to the top of your profile), Delete Post.
    • Someone else's post: Copy Link, Mute @user (hides their posts from your feed without them knowing), Block @user (stops them from following, messaging, or seeing you), and Report Post.
  • Reporting — Choose "Report Post" and pick a reason (spam, harassment, inappropriate content, fake news, or other). It goes to the CampusZen team for review.
  • Polls — Tap an answer to vote (one vote per person). After voting, or when the poll ends, you see results as percentage bars with a checkmark on your choice.
  • Mentions — Type @username to mention someone; it becomes a link to their profile.

Badges you'll notice: Verified (blue ✓), Pro (crown, paid upgrade), and Founder (shield, the CampusZen team).

Bookmarks & Saved Posts

  • Tap the bookmark icon on any post to save it for later; tap again to unsave.
  • All saved posts collect on your Bookmarks page, clearly marked "Only visible to you" with a lock icon — no one else can see your saved list.
  • Unsaving a post removes it from the list right away.
  • Put a # in front of a word (like #PlacementTips) in a post or comment to tag it. Hashtags show in blue and are tappable.
  • Tapping a hashtag opens a page listing every post using that tag, with a count.
  • The Trending Hashtags panel (in the sidebar) shows the most-used tags right now — tap one to explore.
  • Trending Today ranks the hottest posts, and Trending Communities ranks the most active groups, both in the sidebar.

Searching

  • Tap the search icon to look things up. The box hints "Search posts, people, colleges…"
  • Two tabs:
    • Posts — type 2+ letters and matching posts appear as you type (a few matching people show too).
    • Users / People — find student accounts with a follow button, their college, follower count, and any Founder, Pro, or Verified badge.
  • A clear (×) button empties the search. You can also find hashtags by searching the word or tapping a # anywhere.

Communities

Communities are spaces centered on a college, topic, or interest.

  • The Communities screen lists every community as a card showing its name (with a 🎓), plus how many posts and members it has. A search box filters the list as you type.
  • Open a community to see its feed of posts, its post and member counts, and a post box already set to that community so anything you write goes there.
  • Create a community — Tap "Create Community," pick an emoji, type a name (up to 30 characters), and add a short description (up to 200 characters).
  • If a community is empty, a friendly "Welcome" message invites the first post.

Note: You take part in a community by viewing and posting in it; there isn't a separate "join" button — your posts and activity simply show up there.

Connect: Finding & Following People

The Connect page helps you meet other students.

  • It shows a grid of suggested students, searchable by name, @username, or college.
  • Each suggestion card shows the person's photo, name, @username, college and course (if added), up to three interest tags, and a verification badge if they have one.
  • Tap Connect to start a one-on-one connection — this instantly opens a private chat with them, and the button changes to "Connected."
  • Beyond Connect, you can Follow any student (a one-way subscribe, like following on social media) using the Follow/Following button on their profile. Following updates their follower count, and you can view Followers, Following, and Connections (mutual links) lists.

Chats: Direct Messages

Send private messages to other students.

  • Open Chats and choose a conversation, or start one from someone's profile or via the Connect button (which opens the chat immediately). The Chats screen tells you to "Start a conversation from a user's profile."
  • Inside a chat, messages appear as bubbles — yours on the right, theirs on the left.
  • A privacy reminder notes messages are not end-to-end encrypted, so don't share sensitive info.
  • Send text (up to 2,000 characters), GIFs, and images. Press Enter or the send button.
  • Typing indicators — you'll see "X is typing…" with animated dots when the other person is composing.
  • On each message you can:
    • React with a quick emoji (👍 ❤️ 😂 🔥 😮 😢 🙏 🎉) or any emoji.
    • Reply (swipe right on mobile, or use the menu on desktop) with a quoted preview that jumps back to the original.
    • Delete your own messages — they're removed for everyone.
  • Web links become preview cards, and #hashtags and @mentions are tappable.

Group Chats

Talk with many students at once.

  • The Groups tab in Chats lists the group chats you belong to, with the last message, when it was active, and a red unread badge.
  • Discover Groups shows groups from your own college. Search by name or description, see the member and message counts, and tap Join to drop straight into the chat.
  • Create a group (available to admins) — name it, add a description and optional icon, then pick members. The new group opens immediately.
  • Inside a group:
    • The header shows the name, total members, and how many are online right now.
    • All the same messaging features as DMs: text, GIFs, images, reactions, reply, delete-your-own, typing indicators.
    • Tap the info (ℹ) icon for the member list (with "ADMIN" badges), add/remove members (admins), Leave Group, or Delete Group (admins).
    • System notes announce when someone joins or the group is updated.

Notifications

The Notifications page (bell icon) keeps you in the loop.

  • Notifications are grouped by Today, Yesterday, This Week, or the month, and tell you when someone likes, comments, follows, mentions, or connects with you, plus system updates.
  • Tap All or Unread to filter. An unread count badge shows how many you haven't seen.
  • Tap Mark all read to clear them, or just open the page — unread items are automatically marked read after a few seconds.
  • Each notification shows who it's from, a short message (with a preview of the related post if any), and how long ago it happened. Tap one to jump to the related post, profile, or event.
  • You can also turn on push notifications (see Settings) to get alerts on your device even when you're not in the app.

Events

Discover and host what's happening on campus.

  • The Events screen lists events with Upcoming and Past tabs, and you can filter by college. More load as you scroll.
  • Create an event — Tap "Create Event" and fill in a title, description, college and location, date & time (at least 1 hour ahead), capacity (0 = unlimited), and tags (up to 5). It appears immediately.
  • RSVP — Tap the RSVP button on a card or event page to mark yourself as "going" (tap again to cancel). If an event is full it shows "Full"; past events show "Ended."
  • Event details — Tap an event to see the host (link to their profile), date/time, location, college, description, tags, how many are going, remaining spots (with a progress bar if capped), a Share button (copies a link), and a delete option for the host.

Resources: Sharing Study Materials

A library of community-shared notes and files.

  • Browse & search — filter by title, subject, or tags; narrow by college; pick a category (notes, PYQs, etc.); and sort by Newest, Popular, Bookmarked, or Oldest. Scroll to load more.
  • Download — Tap Download on any resource to open the file (PDFs or images) in a new tab.
  • Save — Bookmark a resource to your personal library; the save count updates live.
  • Share — Copy a direct link to the resource.
  • Upload — Tap "Upload" and follow three steps: enter details (title, category, subject, semester, tags, description), select a PDF or image up to 50 MB (drag-and-drop or browse), then submit. Uploads are reviewed before going public (usually within 24 hours), and copyrighted books shouldn't be uploaded.
  • My Uploads — Your personal area shows each upload's status: Under Review, Published (with download/view/save stats), or Rejected (with the reviewer's note). You can delete pending or rejected uploads.
  • Saved Resources — A private library of everything you've bookmarked.

Clips: Short Videos

CampusZen's short, vertical video feed (like a campus version of popular video apps).

  • Open Clips for a full-screen feed that plays automatically as videos come into view and pauses when you scroll away. New clips are shuffled for variety.
  • Upload — Tap "Upload," choose a short vertical video (MP4 or WebM, up to 100 MB), preview it, add a description (up to 300 characters), and post.
  • On each clip you can:
    • Like — tap the heart to like/unlike (count updates instantly).
    • Comment — open a slide-up panel to read and post comments.
    • Save — bookmark it to watch later.
    • Share — use your device's share menu or copy the link.
    • Follow the creator (if it's not your own clip).
  • The clip's creator, username, and description show at the bottom, with a "more/less" toggle for longer text. Clip owners can delete their own clips.

VP Coins (Viper Coins) & Your Wallet

CampusZen has its own in-app currency, Viper Coins (VP) — like arcade tokens you earn by being active and spend in the shop.

  • View your balance — Open the Wallet screen; a big card at the top shows your current VP total.

There are daily fairness limits so people can't farm coins excessively.

  • Transaction history — The Wallet keeps a running list of every coin movement: an icon, a plain description (e.g. "Created a post," "Shop Purchase," "Gift from Admin," "Refund"), when it happened, and the amount. Earned coins show in green with "+"; spent coins show in red with "−". Older entries load as you scroll.

The Cosmetic Shop

Spend your VP to personalize how your profile and chats look. Your current balance is always shown in the top-right.

  • What's for sale (6 categories):
    1. Profile Banner — a decorative strip across the top of your profile.
    2. Avatar Frame — a colored or designed border around your profile picture.
    3. Chat Bubble Theme — a custom look for message bubbles.
    4. Background Effect — an animated or styled visual behind your profile.
    5. Cosmetic Badge — a decorative flair next to your name (it has a dashed ring so it's not confused with a real achievement).
    6. Profile Layout — a different arrangement/style for your profile page.
  • Browsing — Items are grouped by category. Each card shows a name, description, a rarity tag (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic — rarer ones are highlighted), and its price in VP. Banners show a live preview; other items show an icon preview.
  • Two tabs: Purchase (things you haven't bought) and Owned (things you have), each with a count badge.
  • Buying & using — Tap Buy to deduct the VP, mark it yours, and automatically equip it. You can only have one item equipped per category at a time — buying a new banner, for example, swaps out the old one. Owned items show Equip (put it on) or Equipped (tap to take it off). If you don't have enough VP, it says "Insufficient balance."

Ranks, Levels & the Leaderboard

Your activity earns XP (experience points), which is separate from VP coins, and unlocks ranks and status.

  • Leveling up — You earn XP from the same activities as VP (posting, commenting, liking, following, daily login, event RSVPs, uploading resources), each with its own amount and daily caps to keep things fair. Your Level is calculated automatically from total XP — you don't spend it.
  • Your Journey (Ranks) screen shows your profile picture with your rank badge, your Level number, your rank name as a colored pill, your total XP, and a progress bar with "X XP to Level N."
  • Rank tiers you unlock by reaching a level:

A rank gives you a distinctive rank badge on your picture and a rank title (e.g. "Diamond") next to your name — a status symbol showing your experience.

  • Earned Badges — Shown on the Ranks screen in a grid. Earned badges show their icon, name, description, and date; locked ones show a padlock and what to aim for. (These differ from the cosmetic badges you buy in the Shop.)
  • Leaderboard (Hall of Fame) — A scoreboard of the most active students ranked by XP. Top 3 get gold/silver/bronze medals. Three views: Global, Weekly, and My College (if you've set a college). Tap any person to visit their profile. A sticky bar at the bottom always shows your own level, progress, and total XP.

Your Profile Page

Your profile is your personal page on CampusZen. Open your own from the menu, or any student's by tapping their name or picture.

  • Banner across the top (Pro members get an animated one; everyone can upload their own).
  • Profile photo, with a colored ring based on rank or status (Founder, Pro).
  • Name & @username (username can't be changed), a verified ✓ if applicable, a Founder tag on the creator's account, and a dashed cosmetic badge for shop items.
  • Bio (with tappable #hashtags and @mentions), and 🎓 college, 📚 course, and 📅 year chips.
  • Social links to Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, GitHub, and a personal website (if added).
  • Stats row: Total XP, Day Streak, Level, and an "XP to next level" indicator.
  • Counts (tappable): Following, Followers, Connections, and Posts.
  • Activity heatmap — a year-at-a-glance grid showing how active you've been, with a total and daily tooltips.
  • Tabs: Posts (all your posts, with a pinned post at the top if set) and Clips (your short videos in a grid).
  • Actions on others' profiles: Follow/Following button and a DM button (shows "DM Locked" if they've turned DMs off). On your own profile: "Edit profile" and a Share button that exports a profile card (see Customizing Your Look).

Customizing Your Look

Make your profile and the app feel like you.

  • Edit Profile (drawer) — Change your banner and profile photo (JPG/PNG/WebP, up to 5 MB), edit your name (2–50 chars) and bio (up to 160, with a live counter), college/course/year, pick 3–10 interests, add social links, and toggle whether others can DM you. Username is locked.
  • Shop cosmetics (see The Cosmetic Shop) equip frames, banners, background effects, profile layouts, and decorative badges that show on your profile and in chats.
  • Profile Card export — On your own profile, the Share button generates a screenshot-ready card with your photo, banner, name, college, stats, level, and rank. Pick a visual theme (free users get several; Pro members unlock premium themes), then Download PNG to save and share it anywhere.
  • App theme — Anyone can switch between Light and Dark mode (sidebar or mobile menu). Pro members get a Theme picker with extra premium color presets, animated profile headers, and exclusive avatar frames.

Settings

Open Settings from the sidebar or mobile menu. It's organized into clear sections:

  • Account — Edit Profile (jump into the profile editor) and view/change your email (requires a code sent to the new address).
  • Security — Change Password (with a live strength meter), view Recent Logins (devices/browsers that accessed your account, with anything odd flagged "Suspicious"), and Log out all devices at once.
  • Verification — See your status (Verified, Under Review, Rejected with a "Resubmit ID" button, or a "Get Verified" button).
  • Notifications — Turn push notifications on/off for this device, send a test notification, manage Active Devices, and toggle a notification sound.
  • Privacy & Safety — Private Profile (only followers see your posts) and Online Status (let others see when you're active).
  • Danger zone — Log out, or Delete Account (see below). A footer shows the app version and "Built for students."

Billing & Going Pro

  • Open Billing from the sidebar or mobile menu.
  • The Current Status card tells you whether you have an active Pro subscription and when it expires (e.g. "expires in 3 months"). If none is active, it prompts you to redeem a promo code.
  • Redeem Promo Code — Type a code and tap Redeem to activate Pro.
  • Upgrade to Pro — An "Upgrade to Pro" prompt explains the perks: custom themes, animated profile headers, exclusive avatar frames, an ad-free experience, priority support, early access to new features, advanced analytics, and expanded storage. It offers "Get Promo Code" and an "Upgrade to Pro" button leading to Billing.

Deleting Your Account

If you ever want to leave, you can permanently delete everything.

  • From Settings → Delete Account, a two-step confirmation appears:
    1. A warning that this permanently deletes your account, all posts, your VP (Viper Coins), and all data — and cannot be undone. Tap "Send Confirmation OTP."
    2. A 6-digit code is emailed to you; enter it and tap "Permanently Delete" (resend available with a countdown).
  • You're taken to the Goodbye page, confirming your account is deleted and deactivated, with buttons to Create New Account or Back to Home, and a thank-you message.

The Tools Hub

A free collection of small, handy utilities — a "toolkit" of mini apps you can use right in the browser, no setup needed.

  • ID & code generators: UUID/ULID generators, ULID/UUID decoders, a Dummy Data Generator, Slug Generator, and Hash Generator.
  • Web/text helpers: Regex Tester, URL Parser, Query String ↔ JSON converter, Line Counter, JSON → Code converter, Data URL Generator.
  • Code/conversion utilities: HTML ⇄ JSX converter, SVG ⇄ CSS, SVG to React, HTML Previewer, SCSS Formatter, JWT Tools, PHP Serializer, Chmod Calculator, Semver Calculator.
  • Visual/design tools: Color tools (picker, validator, contrast checker, relationships, blindness simulator, gradient/convert/meaning), CSS Cursor Viewer, CSS Specificity calculator, Responsive Fonts preview, Keyboard Info.
  • Sharing/SEO tools: QR Code Generator, Copyright Generator, and SEO tools (meta-tag generator/checker, alt-text checker, broken-link checker, social-share preview, HTML tag counter).

In short, it's a grab-bag of free online utilities — text, SEO, color, and developer-style tools like UUID and QR codes — you can use without leaving the app.
